The Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic (CSI Atlantic) develops partnerships and delivers programs that help grow high-performance sport across Atlantic Canada at the community, provincial, university, and national levels. We provide performance and life services to athletes, along with employment and educational opportunities for coaches.
Position Details
- Job Title: Manager of Business Development
- Employment Status: Full-time (35 hours/week)
- Salary: Starting at $75,000 (commensurate with experience)
Working Locations
- Halifax (in-office)
- Off-site within HRM as required
- Some travel within Atlantic Canada
- Optional work from home (1 day/week)
Role Overview
This role leads revenue diversification for CSI Atlantic through fundraising initiatives, partnerships, fee-for-service growth, grants, gifts, and revenue-generating events. Success is driven by strong management practices and clear partner agreements.
Success Measures
- Year-over-year revenue growth across priority areas
- Development and execution of a comprehensive revenue generation plan
- Delivery of annual action items aligned with strategic priorities
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Priorities
- Develop and execute a diversified revenue generation plan aligned with CSI Atlantic’s strategic priorities
- Plan and deliver events for brand awareness and revenue generation
- Identify, attract, and secure fee-for-service opportunities
- Secure grants, gifts, and funding opportunities in collaboration with the Leadership Team
- Develop sport-specific fundraising initiatives with national training groups
Core Responsibilities
- Meet annual revenue targets set by leadership
- Secure multi-year partners and sponsors
- Explore and expand fee-for-service offerings
- Contribute to business planning (e.g., sports medicine clinic opportunities)
- Manage budgets, revenue tracking, and ROI analysis
- Collaborate with communications on branding and social media
- Represent CSI Atlantic professionally with partners and at events
- Research and identify potential partners and sponsors
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Leadership Team
- Ensure timely and clear agreements with National Sport Organizations
- Support overall organizational communications strategy
- Develop sponsorship frameworks, proposals, and recognition plans

Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years in sales, marketing, or fundraising environments
- Experience in the non-profit sector preferred
- Knowledge of the Atlantic Canadian sport system
- Experience with CRM and sales tools
- Event planning experience (asset)
- Former athlete experience (asset)
- Bilingual (French/English) (asset)
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (asset)
Education
- University degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field
- BBA/MBA considered an asset
